How Does Metal Fabrication Work?

The first step in the metal fabrication process is where you provide use with the product specifications, including quantity, measurements, the type of metal you want, and when the work should be completed. We will then design your project and start manufacturing once we have your approval.

We do all the designing, construction and manufacturing on-site and oversee every project to make sure that it actually meets your requirements. We have a team of high skilled technicians and state-of-the-art equipment such as CNC punching machines, CNC laser cutters, and welding machine that work harmoniously together to help us build quality products for all our customers.

What is CNC Turret Punch Press?

It is a Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machine used for sheet metal fabrication and which uses tools of various shapes and sizes to punch or cut out the profiles of sheet metal parts. With our massive inventory of tools, they are incredibly fast and versatile machines.

The machines can also be used for forming operations (i.e. small bends, knockouts, emboss, countersinking, tapping, lances, etc.) that other CNC cutting technology is simply not able to do. Our Amada machinery is known as the best in the industry, and have massive turrets with 58 stations that allows punching of cuts sized 0.040″ to 4.500″.

What Are the Benefits of Custom Sheet Metal Fabrication?

The key benefits of custom sheet metal fabrication include:

– You can make just about anything, from unique designs to sizes that range from small to large products

– It is an effective way to control quality, from design, shape, to dimensional tolerance

– It is cost-effective because the final product meets the specific requirements of your applications without any additional adjustments being needed.

– You have a say over the entire process of fabrication because you will be working with a highly qualified, trained, and experienced team from our custom sheet metal fabrication company

– The job can be completed faster since your team will be working closely with our custom sheet metal fabrication company

– It increases the durability and usefulness of products since the sheet metal is fabricated to meet your specific working and environmental conditions such as stress, chemicals, temperature, vibrations, etc.

– It increases productivity and efficiency – custom sheet metal fabrication allows you to optimize the design, making it compatible and suitable for your unique needs. This helps increase productivity and efficiency.

What is Design for Manufacturability (DFM)?

It refers to where the custom sheet metal fabrication team, together with the client, examine the part design, manufacturing resources and capability to make sure that manufacturing is not only efficient but also cost-effective too.

Obviously, it equally takes account of the production needs, conforming set quality standards, and the requirements of clients. It therefore examines:

  • The type of material
  • Quality compliance
  • Quality testing compliance
  • Environmental compliance
  • Part specifications
What is the difference between metal fabrication and metal stamping?

Metal stamping can be used to refer to any number of metal forming operations besides pressing, bending, stretching, folding, and stamping actions that can be used to produce the final part. All the metal stamping processes make use of punch presses using custom-made tooling as well as dies to produce a pattern, shape, or other characteristic that specific part requires. The stamping process generally provides tighter tolerance compared to metal fabrication. It is both a cost-effective and quick way to produce metal parts in large quantities.

Metal fabrication, on the other hand, is all about the manufacturing of 3-dimensional metal parts through bending, cutting, and/or other assembly processes. Fabrication typically requires more specialized equipment, such as CNC press brakes, welding, CNC turret presses, and CNC laser cutters. It is usually the cheaper way to produce parts in smaller quantities, since the tools associated with stamping can be expensive. Fabrication also allows for greater flexibility in design compared to stamping because there’s no tooling to change in case the part design requires modification.

What is a CNC press brake machine?

It is a piece of equipment used to form bends in sheet metal parts. CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control. It means that the machine is controlled via PLC controllers and software programming to ensure the highest level of repeatability, and the computer of the machine controls all the variables, as opposed to manually, such as die selection, back gauge settings, pressure, etc.

How does a press brake work?

It works by clamping sheet metal between various dies and punches, which forms the required bends in the material. Back gauges are what determines the sizes of bends. The punches, RAM, and dies determine the radius and angles of bends. CNC press brakes allow the controllers to perform most of the calculations needed to complete this process efficiently and accurately.
